New EP Recorded at The Think Tank!

This past weekend, I recorded a 4-song EP with RENMINBI (“Surface,” due out in July 2009) at The Think Tank studios in Hoboken, New Jersey. This was an incredible experience for many reasons: our EP is being produced by the amazing Don Fleming (Sonic Youth, Hole, The Posies, Dinosaur Jr., The Smithereens, Teenage Fanclub) and engineered by the brilliant Matt Azzarto (Jesse Malin, R. Stevie Moore, Peter Bjorn & John, Lykke Li). Not only did both of these artists know how to get the absolute best sounds out of us, but they were also fantastically cool people to hang out with! I’m still floating from the experience…it was so magical to be playing rock in the same room within which my favorite band (Sonic Youth) just recorded their new record, and so inspiring to be able to record with Lisa Liu and SMV in a totally live situation–no cans, barely any overdubs, just pure, raw performances. I think the results will be pretty exciting!
